Co-Owner & Coach

I have been a competitive athlete for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was involved in many school and community sports, but eventually narrowed in on competitive swimming. I was a competitive swimmer for over 15 years, competing for the University of Victoria and at National level competitions.

After my retirement from swimming, I was looking for a new challenge to fill the athletic void in my life. I was lucky to find CrossFit in 2013 and knew that I was hooked after the first class!

I instantly fell in love with the intensity, the daily challenges, and most importantly, the people. The CrossFit community is unlike anything else and I look forward to coming to the box everyday!

I took my CrossFit level 1 in 2016 and have enjoyed coaching ever since, with my favourite part being when I witness members finally get the “Ah ha” moment and watching them achieve something they’d previously thought impossible.

I truly believe that so much that is taught and learnt in CrossFit can be applied to your daily life and I look forward to watching members achieve their goals both inside and outside the gym!

Bill Martin

Co-Owner & Coach

Hey everyone, Bill here. Fort McMurray is home where I live with my beautiful wife Shai and our two doggos.  I grew up in Saskatchewan and spent several years as Assistant coach to the Saskatoon Rowing Club as well as an avid provincial level competitor.  After graduating from Mechanical Engineering I moved to Fort McMurray and later joined CrossFit Crude in 2014.

I started as a complete beginner. Despite getting my butt kicked I loved the camaraderie while making new friends in the community (did I mention getting my butt kicked?). Today CrossFit gives me my foundation and the ability to branch into many interests including mountaineering, running, triathlon, and hiking.

Jenna Snowdon

Coach

Jenna here! If I’m not at home I’m most likely at the gym...CrossFit Crude that is! I’ve been coaching there since it was established in 2015. I decided to get my Level 1 training certification because I wanted to increase my knowledge as a personal trainer. I graduated from Lethbridge College in 2009 with an Exercise Science diploma and I have been in the fitness industry ever since.

Why do I love CrossFit? Honestly, I love it for the incredible friendships I’ve made over the years. CrossFit is such a community based atmosphere and you will find that at any CrossFit gym you attend and that’s why I love it! Why do I love coaching? I love it because I get to witness people reach different goals every single day.

I’ve been involved in sports for as long as I can remember. I love to run in the summer time and lift weight in the winter time but 5 days of the week you’ll find me at Crude trying to break a PR in HIIT or CrossFit class.

CrossFit: 7 years and counting!

Favourite Wod: Looong chippers or a partner wod!

Favourite Movement: Deadlifts OR sandbag over shoulder

Something you don’t know about me: I am an avid woodworker and LOVE to mow lawns

Sports History: I grew up playing every sport under the sun and loved the competition and challenge each one gave me. I still play hockey and love a good challenging game of badminton!

Coaching Experience: I have been coaching hockey both on and off the ice for 9 years for various teams, academies, camps, tryouts and seminars. I have also coached high school badminton teams and multi level skating lessons.

What do I love most about CrossFit: CrossFit is challenging, motivating, competitive, and has so many different skills and techniques that you are always pushing, growing, goal setting to achieve. But most of all, it is a community of supportive individuals who will celebrate each other no matter your age or skill level! CrossFit has changed my life, and I look forward to throwing down with a group of like minded athletes every single day.

Outside of the gym you will find me in my woodshop working away with music that is probably too loud, doing jiu jitsu, playing hockey or outside hiking/hunting and adventuring with my husband and our pups Bruce and Titan.

Coach

Hey team! I’ve been apart of the crude family for 5 years and have spent the past 2 as a coach, I received my CF-L1 in August of 2020 and aspire to take the CF-L2 course in the future. My background in fitness is rooted in my many years of playing hockey growing up, the last two being played at a competitive level. Transitioning from team based sports to CrossFit came easily, I love the community centred around CrossFit, coming into the gym everyday seeing all the regulars, and meeting new members.

Beth Jacobs

Coach

Hey Crudemunity!

I’ve been in the fitness community for a long long time. I started doing crazy activities like bungee jumping, rock climbing, roller derby, and jumping into marathons without properly training for them at a very early age! Let me tell ya, it’s MUCH easier to get through a marathon when you have a training regiment!

A good friend of mine sold me a groupon for a crossfit gym in Edmonton and I had SO MUCH FUN, I had to start coaching too!

I’ve coached adults working towards marathons, kids and adults roller derby, and was a liaison between chiropractors and physiotherapists to physical training to get clients back into functionality.

You can see me coaching Crude kids, HIIT, and CrossFit, or working right alongside you!!

Jess Caron

Coach

I joined CrossFit in May 2016. I have always been a gym rat but CrossFit did change my life and how I viewed myself for so long.

Before CrossFit, I did Fitness competitions and was obsessed with my weight on every level.

When I started CrossFit, I realized that being strong and fast was way cooler than being skinny. This realization completely changed my world.

I realized that a good balance is what matters the most.

I love CrossFit and I love sharing my passion with our Crude members! My main focus when coaching is to ensure my athletes master form and technique before anything else. I sincerely believe CrossFit can be for anyone; consistency is the secret to it.

My motto is “It never gets easier, you only get stronger!”

I am looking forward to seeing you at the gym!

Aiden Wood

Coach

My name is Aiden. I have been training at Crossfit Crude for 2 years now. I started training crossfit in 2011 to supplement my fitness for hockey. I have been training Crossfit ever since and love the community and competitiveness that comes with training. I started coaching crossfit and hockey dryland in 2018 and only stopped when I moved to Fort McMurray in 2020. My favourite workouts are Hero Workouts, the workouts are some of the hardest created and completing them is very personally rewarding. I look forward to training with and coaching everyone!

Kaela Morales

Coach

I joined my first CrossFit gym in New Brunswick in 2013 after a friend invited me to try a boot camp. I was extremely intimidated, never having really worked out or played sports.

CrossFit became the physical outlet I didn’t know I needed and helped me overcome a lot of insecurity and depression that I was struggling with at the time. The supportive team  atmosphere kept me coming back; the coaches and other athletes made me feel welcome even though I was a major beginner.

Moving to Fort McMurray, the fact that there was no CrossFit gym at the time was devastating. When l finally found CrossFit Crude, I knew I had found a great spot but I had no idea how important this gym  would become to me.

My favourite thing about coaching is watching people surprise themselves, achieve goals and do things they didn’t know their bodies could do.  I look forward to working with you and suffering together as well!
